John 13:3-8
3 Jesus knowing that the Father
had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to
God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid
aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water
into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the
towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter:
and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto
him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou
shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no
part with me.
John 12:1-3
12:1 Then Jesus six days before
the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he
raised from the dead.
2 There they made him a supper;
and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 Then took
Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of
Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the
odour of the ointment.
Interesting
how God had Mary wash… prepare ahead of time Jesus’ body by anointing His feet with
expensive spikenard oil, and washing His feet in her tears, and wiping them
with her hair. She was preparing the Lamb sacrifice.
And then Jesus
performed the act of the Priest in washing… removing His clothes and putting on
clean garment before entering into the holy place to perform the work of the
Priest…. Which was also symbolic of what Jesus as the Lamb was about to do, in laying
down His natural life as our payment and judgment of sin, and then ushering in the
new man, the second man, who is without sin. The firstborn of the Spirit. Thus
making the Way for us to take on His garment of Righteousness, our new identity
and new life in the Spirit of Christ.
Romans 8:9-10
9 But ye are
not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in
you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if
Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness.
11 But if the
Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised
up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit
that dwelleth in you.
Jesus was also
preparing the disciples, just as Mary did for Him, so they could go forward in
the office of the priest and wash others from their filth too… just as Jesus
did.
For in Christ
Jesus, He has made us also living sacrifices unto God.
Romans 12:1-5
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
2 And be
not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God.
3 For I say,
through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think
of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according
as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we
have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being
many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Interesting
that it was a “woman” “female” who prepared Jesus. And interesting that it was another “Mary”
that was God’s choice, just as the Mother Mary, and also Mary Magdalene which
the gospels states was the first to see him after He was risen. But as I asked the Father questions and
pondered this, He revealed that He is not a respecter of persons and it doesn’t
matter if male or female. What matters
is the HEART and who was the better or best choice for Him to use to accomplish
His will at that moment.
So don’t be
high minded if God uses you, and don’t despise who the Lord God brings to help
you. God gets all the glory, and honor
to whom He chooses. And you, whom He
sends, stay humble and obedient.
Let us all be
grateful, and give our Thanks to the Father for His Son Jesus Christ. Let us appreciate the privilege of becoming
sons with the Son, which includes receiving the inheritance of the firstborn of
the Spirit.
We have an
awesome big brother who is Head of us, His body, the church of the
firstborn. Follow the Holy Spirit’s lead
and we too will do the will of our Father in all things. Love one another.
Amen.
