Set Your Eyes On Higher Purpose

This morning the Lord pressed on me Luke 9:51-56, mostly looking at 51-53.  This is the passage of scripture where Jesus has set His focus on getting to Jerusalem so to finish the Father’s work for us on the cross. I knew, this morning, that there was a deeper revelation that the Lord wanted to encourage me with and it wasn’t until this evening that He revealed it.

Luke 9:51-53 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

The Lord showed me that Jesus SET HIS FOCUS on the Higher Purpose of the Father which for Him was going to the cross for us.  Jesus stedfastly stayed focused to that purpose and plan of the Father.  Jesus sent out messengers to make ready each place He was to come, yet some villages didn’t want to receive Him.  But a couple of the disciples wanted to call fire down on them, but Jesus said you know not what manner of spirit you are of.

Luke 9:54-56 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.  And they went to another village.

So Jesus rebuked the disciples telling them that the Purpose of the Father was to save man, not destroy men’s lives.

It was the Spirit of the Father abiding in Jesus, and with the disciples, since Jesus was walking with them and had spoken in their souls by the Spirit of the Father. They had received the Father’s word through the Son Jesus and were washed.  We see this in John 17 and other scriptures how it is the Father in Jesus that does the work and speaks His Word that is Spirit and Life.  So the Father’s heart was to save men, and that is why the Father had sent His only begotten Son through the miracle conception and birth through the chosen and ordained virgin named Mary.  Jesus the Son of God and Lamb of God was about to make all things new, by taking away the sin of the world.  His focus was set to accomplish the Father’s will.

After that rebuke, Jesus instructs all that are helping him and walking with Him to continue on to the next village.

So during our journey in the earth with the Father and Son in us by the Holy Spirit, we are to also Set Our Focus on the Higher Purpose of the Father.  And if some villagers don’t want to receive us then just go on to the next.  Pray for them in Grace of the Lord and continue as the Holy Spirit says to do.

Philippians 3:13-14 …but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Become sons with Son of God: Coheir with Jesus and Heir of God.

John 1:11-14  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Amen.
